The Demon Barbour from Rainy Street

I want to buy a jacket.

It's a Barbour jacket and I want to buy it for all the wrong reasons:

1. It's Barbour

2. I lost a similar one two years ago (so not only did I lose one jacket because of my careless behaviour but I also want another one as a replacement)

3. It's expensive (which makes it harder to get and therefore more appealing)

You see?

It's totally unreasonable and that's why I won't be getting it in the end...

*please mummy oh please*

Oh I already own a Barbour anyway...

I bought it when I went to Munich last Easter and I ended up "holding it" around...

It cost too much and it's black and after endless begging over the phone and promising that I will keep it in excellent condition it and wear it like "forever" I loved it so much that I was actually too scared of wearing it and "ruining it"...

So on a cold and rainy December night I was going to my boyfriend's house and after parking the car nearby I got out in the dark and started "carrying" my bags and Barbour in the usual orderly fashion.

However, it was raining so hard that I was SOAKING.

So there I was in the midde of the street, in the rain, my hair perfectly ruined, the bags painfully sliding from my shoulders to my elbows, HOLDING a VERY expensive coat ON MY ARM - a coat also prefered by the Brittish Royal Family to keeping them dry, and God knows it can be rainy in the UK- and I was wet to my bones.

So I'm starting to think: "Something's wrong with my life choices".

But having WAY too much luggage on my hands - sorry, elbows- (Pj's, medical boooks etc) and it being too rainy to let any bag on the ground (the rain was in my eyes as it was pouring from every direction possible) I actually couldn't wear it, sleeves and all.

So I lifted the coat over my head like a tent, and ran splashing like an idiot across the block.

Needless to say, that the rain was so hard that the waxing was actually washed away and my coat hasn't been as shiny ever since.
(I just need to wax it again, but they're all left out of it in the store in my city and I'll have to wait till September.)

I was so sad I could cry-

I had spent 2 months carrying it around to protect it, and it got ruined in just 2 minutes time.

That'll teach me.

It's been over 3 months now, but I still try not to think about it...
PS. I feel so tired and sort of dizzy all the time... I'm afraid I'm having anemia cause I look a bit pale too...

That's a brillant title for your post and a gorgeous jacket!!!

I think you should buy it!! It's called cost per wear. Remember I told ya all about it? ;)It'll be worth it as long as you wear it this time around!!

I find the more careful I'm being with something, the sooner I break it. Case in point: my clarinet. The first time I used it, I was being sooo careful to not wreck it and at first touch- I broke it. Yeah good times.

:)

Jessica is very right-- the more you take care of something, the likelier it is you'll screw it up early. *shakes head sadly* I learnt this the hard way when it came to clothes, glasses, lab coats...

Running through the rain, I don't mind getting soaked. I get funny looks when I stuff a textbook under my shirt and run hunchbacked to protect it from the rain but... que sera, que sera.

As for feeling a litte anaemic, get some blood tests done. On that note, don't take your personal diagnosis so seriously. ALL Medical students are hypochondriacs. (I diagnosed myself with tonsilitis and my GP told me it was strep throat-- he said he gets plenty of med students come through who present themselves and rec their own prescriptions ahahaha)

Jess: You play the clarinet?? I wanted to pkay the trumpet when I was younger...

I went to see it today again and it's not really worth it... I don't want it that bad anymore...

(thank God, I got it out of my system)

m: I love getting soaked too, that's why it hurt more when I ruined the coat for no big reason... :-(

I used to think that I have all the deseases possible, but lately I'm right in my diagnosis more often than not, so I'll probably take it rather seriously... Or sleep more... :-)

Sara: I loved Sweeny Todd... It was a bit scarier than I had expected but I enjoyed it... :-)

And I agree with m..... Have you had an URTI or anything recently? I had one and am convinced I have a post-viral fatigue syndrome going on which is only slowly getting better...

Dragonfly: URTI- yes, it could be that too... :-)
